XPiQ Presents KIQ025 Series DC-DC Converters

January 06, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

XPiQ Inc. (Holliston, MA), a worldwide manufacturer and supplier of ac/dc and dc/dc power supply products, announced its new KIQ025 Series quarter-brick converter, an intermediate dc-dc converter able to produce 25A in a 12V nominal output at efficiencies up to 96%. The KIQ025 offers a low cost and reliable solution for applications requiring high currents at low voltages provided by non-isolated point-of-load (POL) converters.

Designed as a loosely regulated 12Vdc isolated intermediate bus, the KIQ025 is a suitable power source for generating efficient power to non-isolated POL converters downstream in a distributed power architecture. Measuring 2.30in x 1.45in x 0.43in, the KIQ025 delivers 300W of power in a standard quarter-brick footprint, and features a high power density of 210W/in³.

The KIQ025 accepts inputs of 42Vdc to 53Vdc, and is capable of providing full power up to 55°C with 200 LFM of airflow. The KIQ025’s high efficiency rating allows the converters to operate at ambient temperatures of up to +85°C with sufficient airflow and derating. Standard features include remote on/off; low ripple and noise; no minimum load requirements; 1,500Vdc isolation; and over-current, over-voltage and over-temperature protection.

Two versions are available with the KIQ025, a standard open-frame and an optional base-plate version. All models meet international safety agency approvals and carry the CE Mark for LVD. The KIQ025 Series is priced as low as $52.50 for 1,000 pieces. The series is available now in small quantities with production volume available in 10 weeks ARO.
