VPT Intros New DVSB Series DC/DC Converters

New Products Jan 21, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

VPT Inc. (Blacksburg, VA) announced its new DVSB Series dc/dc converters with split-output voltages of 3.3V and 5V, which is designed for airborne military uses, including fighter jets, helicopters and weapons systems. The DVSB Series offers multiple low-voltage output voltages, high reliability, wide temperature operation, low size and weight requirements, and lower development costs.

The new DVSB Series eliminates the need for custom converters or multiple converters to satisfy multiple output-voltage needs in a military power system. The converters feature

low output noise of 40mV, typical; a wide input-voltage range of 15V to 50V per MIL-STD-704; up to 12.5W of output power; minimal cross regulation; a fault-tolerant magnetic feedback circuit; under-voltage lockout resulting in minimal overshoot on startup; a light weight of 24g; a high input transient voltage of 80V for 1s per MIL-STD-704A; and a precision projection welded hermetic package.

The DVSB Series is available in custom versions, is manufactured in a MIL-PRF-38534 and ISO9001 facility, satisfies MIL-STD-461C and MIL-STD-461D EMC requirements when used with VPT’s DVMH28 EMI filter, is available in flanged and non-flanged versions, and offers MIL-PRF-38534 element evaluated components.

The DVSB Series is priced at $397 in quantities of 100. The new DVSB modules are available immediately from stock.
