Vishay Releases New Series of Mini Lug NTC Thermistors With Small Lug Mounting Space

March 13, 2011 by Jeff Shepard

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. announced the release of a new series of Mini Lug negative temperature coefficient (NTC) thermistors with what the company says is the industry’s smallest mounting space of 65mm²/0.1 in², and shortest response time of <4 s to provide fast and accurate measurements over a wide temperature range from -40 to +125°C.

In addition to their small diameter, the NTCALUG03 thermistors feature a tiny 5.5 mm ring tongue that can be mounted with M2 screws or American studs #1 to 2. These small dimensions, when combined with the devices’ silver plated nickel conductor, result in a low thermal gradient of <5% of ΔT for accurate surface temperature measurement in space-limited applications. The devices are optimized for housing, heat-sink, power electronics, and pipe and conductor thermal management in test and measurement equipment, appliances, and industrial equipment.

The thermistors released today offer designers a choice of electrical resistance values at +25°C (R25) to meet the self-heating, voltage output, or noise suppression needs of their application. The NTCALUG03 devices feature R25 of 10, 12, or 47kΩ, with tolerances of ±2% and ±3%. The thermistors are available with an optional 1.5 mm pitch ZHR-2 connector, and offer customizable lead lengths and screw sizes, like M3/American stud #3 to 4. The NTCALUG03 series is compliant to RoHS directive 2002/95/EC.
