Vishay Releases 200V Dual High-Voltage Trench Schottky Rectifier

January 01, 2008 by Jeff Shepard

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. launched what it describes as the industry’s first 200V, 30A dual high-voltage TMBS® Trench Schottky rectifier.

The V30200C is said to offer several advantages over planar Schottky rectifiers. As operating voltages move to 100V and above, planar Schottky rectifiers tend to lose their advantage of high switching speed and low forward voltage drop to a substantial degree. The patented TMBS structure, however, is said to diminish minority carrier injections to the drift region, to minimize stored charges and improve switching speed.

With a low VF of 0.648V typical at 15A and +125°C, and what is described as superior switching performance, the V30200C is said to reduce power loss and improves the efficiency of switchmode power supplies and OR-ing diodes. To lower costs by reducing the component count and saving board space, the company states that the rectifier can be used as an alternative to synchronous rectification solutions while matching their efficiency and thermal performance.

The device is optimized for consumer and computer applications with power ratings from 80 to 200W, including high-power, high-efficiency telecom base station power supplies; OR-ing diodes for redundant switchmode power supplies in servers and industrial PCs; secondary rectification circuits for switchmode power supply adaptors in desktop PCs, servers, and notebook PCs; and adaptors for high-power plasma display panels (PDP) TVs, LCD TVs, and LCD monitors.

The V30200C is offered in TO-220AB, TO-263AB, and TO-262AA packages, and is compliant with RoHS 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC.

Samples and production quantities of the dual high-voltage TMBS rectifiers are available now, with lead times of four to eight weeks for large orders.
