Vishay Intros VESDxx02V Series ESD Protection Diodes

New Products Oct 19, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. (Malvern, PA) announced its new VESDxx02V Series of ESD protection diodes optimized for space-critical applications with an ultra-small SOD523 (SC79) package measuring 0.8 mm x 1.6 mm x 0.6 mm. The new diodes are intended to provide ESD protection for data lines in mobile phone handsets and accessories, cordless phones, laptop computers, PDAs, digital cameras, modems, MP3 players, and other compact, hand-held electronics.

The new VESDxx-02V Series offers one-line transient protection of 15 kV (air) and 8 kV (contact) as per IEC 61000-4-2. The diodes offers a choice of five working voltage values ranging from 1 V to 12 V, and maximum clamping voltages from 9 V to 25 V. Low leakage current helps to prolong battery life. The five released devices are packaged in a plastic case with a UL 94 V-0 flammability rating, and are specified for an operating temperature range of -40 °C to +125 °C. They are available for delivery in tape-and-reel packaging.

Samples and production quantities of the new VESDxx-02V ESD protection diodes are available now with lead times of 8 to 12 weeks for larger orders. Pricing for US delivery in 100,000-piece quantities is $7.00 per 100 pieces.
