Vishay Intros GMF05C/GMF05LC Diode Arrays

April 29, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. (Malvern, PA) announced the release of two new ESD protection diode arrays targeted at the mobile electronics market, the GMF05C and GMF05LC ESD protection arrays, which are designed to provide transient protection for data input and output lines in portable communications and computing devices such as cellular phones, laptop computers, digital cameras, modems and PDAs.

With peak pulse current of 12 A and peak pulse power of 200 W at a 8/20 waveform, the GMF05C is optimized for high pulse current applications. The diode array also features a total capacitance of 150 pF. Peak pulse current and peak pulse power for the GMF05LC are 70 W and 5 A, respectively, and the device's low total capacitance is 50 pF. Electrical performance for both devices is enhanced by a reverse stand-off voltage of 5 V and low leakage current ratings. The protection arrays offer IEC 61000 protection of 15 kV (air) and 8 kV (contact). Each is packaged in the compact SOT363 package, which measures 1.25 mm x 2.05 mm x 1 mm, and both are specified for an operating temperature range of -55 °C to +125 °C.

Samples and production quantities of the new GMF05C and GMF05LC ESD protection arrays are available now, with lead times of eight weeks for larger orders. Pricing for US delivery in 100,000-piece quantities starts at $12 per 100 pieces.
