Ultra-High Ripple Current Hybrid Aluminum Capacitors

March 14, 2017 by Jeff Shepard

NIC Components announced the release of NSPE-TJ series featuring ultra-high ripple current ratings. Following the recent release of the NSPE-TF series, the advanced construction technology used in NSPE-TJ series results in 35% to 60% increase in ripple current ratings reducing the total amount of components once required and helping to reduce the size of the end products. Case sizes ranging from 8mm X 10.5mm to 10.5mm X 12.5mm V-Chip constructions. Capacitance values range from 150uF to 470uF in 25V and 35V ratings.

Operating temperature for the NSPE-TJ series is -55 to +125 degrees C with load life endurance rating of 4,000 hours and ripple current ratings up to 3.8Arms at max temperature range. The NSPE-TJ Series meets PB-Free reflow conditions up to 260 degrees C and is RoHS Compliant without exemptions, halogen free and REACH compliant.

Hybrid capacitors incorporate the best elements of both solid polymer and liquid electrolyte construction to achieve ultra-low ESR, high ripple current ratings, low leakage current and superior stability over voltage and temperature.

Incorporating liquid electrolyte within NSPE-TJ series has advantages of self-healing, high surge voltage resistance, and open mode wear-out, as compared to solid construction electrolytic capacitors. The NSPE-TJ series meets the requirements of AECQ200 and suggested for use in automotive grade applications or where higher quality components may be required.

Together with NIC's high current power inductors and specialty resistors the NSPE-TJ series is designed for use in high-current dc-dc converters, in dash automotive applications, embedded computing and outdoor lighting and displays.
