Tyco Electronics Unveils SW Series Modules

Tyco Electronics Power Systems Inc. (Dallas, TX) unveiled the SW Series of 10W to 15W dc/dc power converters, which offer electronic designers a low-cost replacement for the popular LW010/15 Series in a package half the size with higher efficiency and the same pinout. The modules can be used in distributed power or intermediate bus architectures in data processing, wireless, enterprise, access or optical networking equipment.

The SW modules deliver up to 4A, converting a 36V to 75V input to a precisely regulated single output from 15V to 1V. The modules achieve full-load efficiency of 86% at 3.3V output voltage. The input is fully isolated from the output, further enhancing flexibility by allowing versatile polarity configurations and grounding connections. The SW converters offer a small size and low profile, measuring just 1.10in x 1.00in x 0.335in (27.94mm x 25.38mm x 8.5mm). Both through-hole and surface-mount packages are available to support modern automated production processes. All of the SW/SC Series modules offer output-current limiting and protection against output over-voltage, input under-voltage or over-current. The modules are capable of operating in temperatures ranging from –40°F to +185°F (-40°C to +85°C).
