Tyco Electronics Launches New JHW100xx Series DC/DC Converter

August 26, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Tyco Electronics Power Systems (Mesquite, Texas) has launched a new high-density, dual-output dc/dc converter family that addresses the needs for the growing demand in powering new low-voltage, high-current silicon devices.

The 100W half-brick, dual series power module is a high-density converter that provides two precisely regulated dc outputs at 15A each, over input ranges of 18V to 36V and 36V to 75V. The outputs, initially available in 5V/3.3V and 3.3V/2.5V, are fully isolated from the inputs, allowing versatile polarity configurations and grounding connections. Each output is trimmable and sense-regulated independently. A common remote on/off logic pin controls both outputs for easy sequencing.

The JHW100 module is targeted to support changing load and voltage requirements for new silicon in the rapidly evolving applications of broadband, wireless, access and optical networking markets. The JHW100 is offered in an industry-standard half-brick package with a metal base plate for excellent thermal performance. It is a highly efficient design, with typical efficiencies of 88 percent at full load.

Other features of this product are over-temperature, over-current and over-voltage protection, low output noise and ripple, and no minimum load required for start up. This product is also designed to meet basic insulation requirements per EN60950.

Prices are $107 in quantities of 1,000 units.
