TriQuint Offers New TGA4819-SL Modulator Driver

April 18, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

TriQuint Semiconductor Inc. (Hillsboro, OR) introduced its TGA4819-SL large-signal, linear modulator driver amplifier for high-speed optical networking applications. Offering more than two times the gain (20 dB) of typical linear driver solutions and 20 dB of AGC range, the TGA4819-SL is suitable for use in metro and long-haul transponders as well as line cards.

The TGA4819-SL has demonstrated the capability to deliver 10 Vpp while maintaining output harmonic levels near -30 dBc for a 2 GHz fundamental. The TGA4819-SL is the latest in a series of efficient, surface-mount, modulator drivers providing electrical and optical eyes. The surface-mount, land grid array packaged product consists of a high-performance wideband amplifier with on-chip power detector, plus off-chip bias circuitry and decoupling capacitors. The TGA4819-SL handles bit rates through 11.2 Gb/s for optical non-return-to-zero applications.
