Torex Semi Announces New 700mA High-Speed Transient Response LDO Regulator With Reverse Current Protection

Torex Semiconductor Ltd. announced a new 700mA High-Speed Transient Response LDO Regulator with Reverse Current Protection. The XC6222 series achieve high precision (±1%), high ripple rejection (65dB @ 1kHz), low dropout (120mV @ 300mA), and a low supply current.

According to the company, with the diversification of electronic devices and consumer electronics in recent years, there is a growing demand for ICs that are smaller and lower profile and have a lower supply current to meet environmental concerns. The XC6222 supplies power using a stable, high-speed negative feedback circuit, enabling suppression of output voltage fluctuations caused by sudden changes in load current. For example, when the output load current changes from 10 to 200mA, the output voltage drop is held to 29mV, a much smaller output voltage change than with previous products.

Operating voltage range is from 1.7V. When a voltage higher than the input pin (VIN) is applied to the output pin (VOUT), the reverse current protection function prevents reverse current, holds down the supply current, and protects the IC. This eliminates the need for a reverse-current protection diode when there is power supply switching, such as in ac adapters and in USB and other external power applications. The small USP-6C package (1.8 x 2.0 x 0.6mm) contributes to space-saving design.
