TI Presents New PT4850 Series of DC/DC Converters

April 28, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Texas Instruments Inc. (TI, Dallas, TX) introduced its new PT4850 Series of triple-output isolated dc/dc converters with internal sequencing and fault control in a package size smaller than a half-brick or two quarter-bricks. The PT4850 Series is suitable for telecommunications, datacommunications and networking applications.

The PT4850 Series operates from a standard 48V telecom central office supply. The PT4851 is the first model released in the series, offering a triple-output-voltage combination of 3.3V/2.5V/1.5V. Future models will deliver output voltages as low as 1.2V.

The PT4850 Series features a 48V input (36V to 75V range); triple outputs (independently regulated); an 85 percent typical efficiency; 1,500Vdc isolation; dual logic on/off control; short-circuit protection (all outputs); over-temperature shutdown; under-voltage lockout; fixed-frequency operation; horizontal, SMD and vertical packages; and a size of 3.61in x 1.5in x 0.50in (91.69mm x 38.10mm x 12.7mm).

Pricing for the PT4850 Series is 85.01 in 10,000-unit quantities.
