TI Intros PT6714 Switching Regulator Power Module

December 03, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Texas Instruments Inc. (Dallas, TX) announced its PT6714 non-isolated, integrated power module that delivers voltages as low as 1V at 13A. The PT6714 switching regulator power module operates from a 3.3V input bus to provide a low-voltage, high-current power source for the latest generation of multi-processor and high-end computing applications, such as workstations, servers and other large systems that employ multiple microprocessors, digital signal processors, application-specific integrated circuits or field-programmable gate arrays.

The PT6714 is the newest addition to the PT6715 family of integrated power modules that deliver up to 13A with output voltages from 1V to 3.3V from either a 5V or 3.3V input bus. The output voltage from the PT6714 is tightly regulated, with an adjustment trim of +5 percent/-30 percent. The device features

90 percent efficiency; a on/off standby function; a -40 to +85 degrees C operating temperature range; a differential remote sense; adjustable output voltage; and short-circuit protection in a 17-pin, space-saving package.

The PT6714 integrated power module is now available in surface-mount, vertical through-hole or horizontal through-hole styles (2.58in x 1.025in x 0.5in). Pricing for the PT6714 is $19.53 per 1,000 units.
