New Products Jul 26, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Taiyo Yuden USA Inc. (Schaumburg, IL) announced its PAM150, the first model in its new PAM Series of affordable, passive, power-factor-correction (PFC)-based, switch-mode power supplies for 1U-height, single-output medical applications. The PAM150 employs passive PFC technology versus active PFC technology.

The PAM150 switcher provides a universal 115 Vac/230 Vac input selection and a single 150 W continuous power output. The user may select one of several factory-set output voltages, including 3.3 V, 5 V, 12 V, 24 V and 48 V. The PAM150 switcher features optional current-sharing capability for 1+1 redundancy with no special interconnection requirement. Other options include remote on/off, and droop or single-wire current sharing with OR-ing diodes. The standard unit provides heat dissipation, but is also available with an optional fan with its own 12 Vdc supply. The device measures 6 in x 4 in x 1.5 in and comes with a two-year warranty.

The PAM150 is priced at under $60 each in OEM quantities. Available now, delivery is from stock to eight weeks ARO.
