Taiyo Yuden Intros CKP3216 Series Chip Inductors

New Products Nov 07, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Taiyo Yuden (USA) Inc. (Schaumburg, IL) introduced it new CKP3216 Series of 1206 case size, multi-layer chip inductors, which offer a low profile for dc-dc converter choke coil applications in portable electronic device power circuits. With a maximum height of 0.9 mm, the CKP3216 Series devices provide a low profile, facilitating the design of thinner, higher-performance, multi-function cell phones, digital still cameras, digital video cameras, and other battery-powered, ultra-portable electronic equipment.

A proprietary internal-electrode printing process enabled the company to double the thickness of the internal conductor compared to the company's previous-generation devices, resulting in lower dc resistance. Another material science-derived improvement was the prevention of inductance drop during the application of high current, an essential requirement in ultra-portable applications. New additions to the CKP3216 Series, now under development, are expected to result in further performance gains in 1206 case size.

Offering current ratings from 0.7 A to 1.1 A and 4.7 µH to 1.0 µH, respectively, the low-profile CKP3216 Series chip inductors are now available in mass-production quantities. Sample pricing is $0.20 each for all CKP3216 Series multi-layer chip inductors. Available now, in volume production quantities, delivery is in two weeks ARO.
