SynQor Expands Peta Series with 2.5V/3.3V Converters

October 14, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

SynQor Inc. (Boxborough, MA) announced the release of two high-efficiency dc-dc converters suitable for current-hungry networking and telecom applications. The standard half-brick modules are part of the PowerQor™ Peta Series and are capable of delivering up to 80 A at 2.5 V and 70 A at 3.3 V. The open-frame converters employ synchronous rectification and a single board design, providing a full load efficiency over 90%.

The modules are packaged in a standard half-brick footprint of 2.4 in x 2.3 in x 0.45 in (61 mm x 58.4 mm x 11.4 mm) and use the industry-recognized pin-out configuration. The 2.5 V output unit delivers 80 A of current (200 W) while the 3.3 V module is rated up to 70 A (230 W). Additionally, the converter’s output can be trimmed up 10% or down 20%, providing accurate voltage margining and custom outputs. Both units have a standard 35 V to 75 V telecom input and are designed with an additional set of output pins to enhance the current carrying capability of the converter and reduce dissipated power delivered to the load board.

The SynQor converters carry a comprehensive set of international safety approvals, including EN60950 and UL/cUL60950. Control and protection features include on/off control, voltage trim, remote sense, input under-voltage lockout, short circuit, current limit, output over-voltage protection, and thermal shutdown.

Sample and production quantities of the 2.5 V and 3.3 V Peta Series converters are available now with a lead-time of stock to eight weeks. The standard module is priced at $90.60 in OEM quantities.
