Supertex Announces the HV300LG Hot-Swap Controller
Supertex Inc. (Sunnyvale, CA) announced the HV300LG hot-swap controller, a negative-supply IC. The HV300LG provides control of the power supply connection for systems that are always powered-on, but that require insertion or removal of cards or modules without power disturbance. Applications include server, telecommunications, and emerging VOIP systems constructed in large racks.
The design topology of the HV300LG provides inrush-current limiting, short-circuit protection and generation of a 'power good' status signal. The Supertex HV300LG uses few external parts, while providing load-independent timing control.
The HV300LG uses the Supertex HVCMOS high voltage process and a newly invented circuit topology, and is intended for -48V up to -100V supplies. The HV300LG has an active high-status output, while the HV310LG has an active low-status output to meet existing system design requirements.
The HV300LG controller is packaged in an industry-standard eight-lead SOIC. It is priced at $1.50 in 10,000-unit quantities. Samples are available now, with a lead time of four to six weeks ARO.
