STM Offers STripFET III MOSFET Technology

New Products Oct 24, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

STMicroelectronics Inc. (Geneva, Switzerland) introduced a new range of low-voltage MOSFETs based on its STripFET III™ technology, which are designed for use on motherboards and in telecommunications applications. The STB130NH02L, STD38NH02L, STD90NH02L, STD100NH02L and STS25NH3LL MOSFETs feature low thresholds, low input capacitances, a low intrinsic resistance of less than 1.9W, and a reverse-recovery characteristic of the parasitic body diode of 39 percent.

The STB130NH02L in a TO-263 D2PAK surface-mount package is designed for use in synchronous rectification in telecom or computing dc/dc converters, and offers a VDSS of 20V, an RDS(on) of 0.0034W at 10V and a continuous drain current ID of 90A. The STD38NH02L in a DPAK and tape-and-reel package is designed for high-efficiency dc/dc converter applications and has an RDS(on) of 0.011W at 10V and a continuous drain current ID of 38A. The STD90NH02L in a TO-252 DPAK surface-mount package is suitable for high-efficiency dc/dc converters and offers a VDSS of 20V, an RDS(on) of 0.0052W at 10V and a continuous drain current ID of 60A. The STD100NH02L offers an RDS(on) of 0.0038W at 10V and a continuous drain current ID of 60A. The STS25NH3LL is a 30V device, with an RDS(on) of 0.0027W at 10V, a continuous drain current ID of 25A, and operation up to 175 degrees C. The device is suitable for demanding telecom equipment, notebook CPUs and synchronous rectifier applications.

The STD38NH02L, STD90NH02L and STD100NH02L will also be available in IPAK versions. Samples of the STB130NH02L and STS25NH3LL are now available and priced from $0.65 and $0.70, respectively, in quantities of 50,000. In full production quantities of 50,000, the STD38NH02L is available for $0.38, the STD90NH02L is available for $0.48 and the STD100NH02L is available for $0.55.
