Stackpole Intros PCMC Series High-Current Inductors

September 08, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Stackpole Electronics Inc. (SEI, Raleigh, NC) introduced its new PCMC Series of power choke inductors, which provide high saturation currents and operational frequencies, as well as low losses due to DCR, in a low-profile, shielded SMD package. Typical applications include graphics cards, field programmable logic, voltage regulation modules, point-of-load converters, and dc-dc converters in laptops, notebooks, and tablet PCs.

With sizes ranging from 13.8 mm x 12.6 mm down to 7.3 mm x 6.5 mm, and with profiles as low as 3 mm, the PCMC Series is suitable for dc-dc conversion in portable devices. Inductance values for the PCMC Series range from 0.10 uH up to 4.7 uH, with DCR as low as 0.68 mΩ, and dc current capability of up to 55 A. Standard tolerance for this product is 20 percent, yet tighter tolerances are available.

The PCMC Series is RoHS-compliant, with lead-free, 100-percent matte tin terminations. Pricing for the PCMC Series is $0.50 each, in volume quantities. Lead times are from stock to six weeks.
