Small Tech Announces ESO Series DC Power Converters

Small Technology Research Group (STRG, Taichung, Taiwan) announced its new ESO Series of 20 W dc-dc power converters that offer a low-cost and space-saving replacement for the most-popular industry-standard package (2 in x 1 in) power modules. The converters can be used in data processing, wireless, enterprise, access, or optical networking equipment.

The ESO Series delivers up to 5 A output current, converting over two wide input-voltage ranges of 18 Vdc to 36 Vdc and 36 Vdc to 75 Vdc to provide precisely regulated outputs of 3.3 V, 5 V, 12 V, 15 V, ±12 V, and ±15 V. The input is fully isolated (basic insulation) from the output, further enhancing flexibility by allowing versatile polarity configurations and grounding connections. The modules run at fixed frequency to help the EMC noise filtering. The ESO converters offer a small footprint, measuring 1.1 in x 1.0 in (27.94 mm x 25.4 mm) with an open-frame construction to offer good thermal performance for the industry-standard 2 by 1 pin-assignment. The ESO modules are compliant with RoHS requirements.

The ESO Series offer output current limiting and protection against output over-voltage, input under-voltage, over-current, and over-temperature. Due to high-efficiency design (88 percent), the modules are able to output full load (20 W) in temperatures ranging from -40 °C to +60 °C, and up to 85 °C with forced air. Samples are available now.
