Sipex Debuts SP6134H DC-DC Power Controller

June 10, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Sipex Corp. (Milpitas, CA), a provider of high-performance, analog integrated circuits, announced the SP6134H, a high-voltage, dc-dc power controller, which offers dc-dc voltage conversion from input voltages as high as 28 V down to output voltages as low as 0.8 V. The SP6134H operates at a fixed 600 kHz switching frequency that enables the use of smaller and less-expensive filtering components, such as inductors and capacitors.

The SP6134H is suitable for converting wide-range input voltages to lower voltages for powering ASICs, microprocessors and high-speed logic. The device is also suitable for driving high-power LEDs, where 12 V or 24 V power distribution is used, such as track lighting or landscape lighting.

The SP6134H offers a simple technique for sequencing control, where any number of power outputs can be ramped up at the same time or in sequential order. In order to provide the highest possible efficiency, the SP6134H allows the internal 800 mV reference to be reduced by applying a lower external reference voltage.

The SP6134H is currently available in the space-saving MSOP package with an extended industrial temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C. Pricing for the SP6134H begins at $1.45 in 1,000-piece quantities. Product samples and an evaluation board are available to assist in the evaluation of the device.
