SENS Announces Automatic DC Power Supply & Charger With Integrated Battery Monitoring

December 11, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

Stored Energy Systems (SENS) announced its new line of EnerGenius IQ™ dc power supply and chargers, which the company claims is the industry's first on-board battery check system that monitors back-up battery health and alerts operators to potential battery failure, while helping avert costly or catastrophic application outages.

EnerGenius IQ's built-in intelligence allows easy charger configuration in all site conditions, reducing installation errors and improving productivity. Its built-in battery check system automatically tests battery performance without disrupting application operation. Weak batteries can be replaced proactively, averting possible failures. Black box data recording helps spot previously hidden problems and directs preventive maintenance, saving companies time and money while further reducing the probability of unplanned outages. EnerGenius IQ's advanced user interface provides easy-to-understand system status and control while its dual microprocessors minimize the risk of a single point failure.

Thousands of utility substations, pipeline monitoring and pumping stations, communications sites, and power generation plants use battery-packed dc power systems on a 24/7 basis. These sites are at risk of a major outage if ac power fails and back-up batteries do not operate properly. To further accentuate the risk, many of these sites are remote, in harsh environments and are subject to irregular maintenance. For a high percentage of these battery-backed dc power sites, EnerGenius IQ is a cost-effective solution for reliable dc power.

Bill Kaewert, President and CTO of SENS stated,"Early customer reaction about EnerGenius IQ has been incredibly positive. The product will provide increased reliability and ease-of-use to industry at a time when organizations are under great budget pressures, growth pressures, or both. This isn't just a replacement charger; it adds a whole new capability to the dc system."
