Semtech Launches SC4911 PWM Controller

June 25, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Semtech Corp. (Camarillo, CA), a supplier of analog and mixed-signal semiconductors for communications, portable devices, computers and industrial equipment, announced its new SC4911, a highly integrated, bias and primary-side, voltage-mode, pulse-width modulation controller. Powered by a high-voltage bus or primary-side auxiliary winding, the SC4911 comes in a space-saving, MSOP-8 package and features a 50µA maximum startup current.

The SC4911's ultra-low startup current makes the device especially suitable for building high-voltage bias, off-line or isolated dc/dc power supplies for telecommunications, data communications and other equipment. It is also suitable for instrumentation power supplies, battery chargers for cellular handsets and other portable equipment.

The SC4911 controller is available immediately in production quantities and is priced at $0.53 each in 10,000-piece lots. The device comes in an MSOP-8 package, operates over a temperature range of -40°C to +125°C, and is available in tape-and-reel packaging.
