Schaefer Unveils CW5500 Series Converter Modules
Schaefer Inc. (Ashland, MA) unveiled its new CW5500 Series of 15,000 W, 5U (8.75 in) high, 19 in wide, rack-style, water-cooled dc-dc and ac-dc converter modules. Applications include railway controls and communications equipment (onboard and trackside), military applications, fuel cell applications, transportation, telecommunications systems, process control systems, and power stations.
The CW5500 Series is available in five standard dc input-voltage ranges from 80 Vdc to 800 Vdc, as well as three ac input voltages from three at 200 Vac (160 Vac to 230 Vac) up to three at 480 Vac (400 Vac to 530 Vac). Single outputs are available in eight standard ranges from 23 Vdc to 400 Vdc. All outputs are adjustable and fully regulated to 0.2 percent or better (load) and 0.1 percent (line). All modules in the CW5500 Series have remote sensing (up to 150 V output), over-voltage protection, and current-limit protection on the output. Efficiencies run up to 95 percent. Operating temperatures available include -20 °C to +75 °C and -40 °C to +75 °C.
The units are packaged in a 5U x 19 in x 600 mm rack module, and incorporate terminal/bolt/bar connection points. Options available include decoupling diodes for parallel/redundant operation, "ruggedization," inhibit, power fail/DC-OK alarms, system reset, active current sharing, and programming. Mechanical and electrical modifications to standard modules are readily available upon request, as well as fully customized solutions. Pricing for the CW5500 Series is from $10,525.00 per unit for 100-piece quantities. Significant OEM quantity discounts are available. Delivery is six to eight weeks ARO.
