RO Associates Unveils QVB48-12-20 Quarter Brick

RO Associates Inc. (Sunnyvale, CA) announced its new QVB48-12-20 high-efficiency quarter brick, which provides an isolated 12 V rail from a 48 V line. Synchronous rectification, proprietary magnetic geometries and advanced thermal management techniques are used to produce a 12 V, 20 A output with an ultra-high-conversion efficiency of 95%. The minimal power loss and packaging make reliable operation possible without the use of a heatsink. Operating essentially as a dc transformer with Vout = 0.25 Vin, the QuattroVerter QVB is suitable for converting 48 V to an intermediate 12 V bus for use with multiple, low-cost, point-of-load converters.

The QVB48-12-20 comes in the industry-standard package of 2.3 in x 1.45 in x 0.42 in. The ultra-low parts count, higher efficiency, faster transient response and lower ripple produces a quarter brick that costs less and is easier to use. The QuattroVerter module is available in both through-hole and surface-mount packages. Pricing for the QVB48-12-20 is $89 for single-piece quantities, and $64 for 1,000-piece quantities. Delivery is from stock to six weeks ARO.
