RO Associates Inc. (Sunnyvale, CA) announced the release of a new high-efficiency "quarter brick" with 48V input and 5V at 25A. The QV48-5-25-1 is a member of RO’s second generation of quarter-brick modules. The improved series of converters produce 25A of 5V at 91% efficiency. The minimal power loss performance is maintained across the load range and is complimented by advanced thermal management and packaging techniques. The combination of performance and packaging makes reliable operation at high currents possible without the use of a heatsink.
The QV48-5-25-1 comes in the industry-standard package of 2.3in x 1.45in x 0.42in. The ultra-low parts count and better performance features such as higher efficiency, faster transient response, and lower ripple produces a quarter brick that costs less and is easier to use. The low-noise, open-frame modules include remote sense, positive and negative on/off logic options, clamping over-voltage protection, and a trim range of –20% to +10%. Additional features include current limiting, short-circuit protection and transient response.
Evaluation boards are available and the modules are UL/CSA/TUV and CE compliant. The QuattroVerter® module is available in both through-hole and surface-mount packages.
