RF Micro Intros PowerStar RF3133 PA Module

February 18, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

RF Micro Devices Inc. (Cannes, France) introduced the RF3133, the smallest available quad-band power amplifier (PA) module with integrated power control circuitry. The RF3133 extends the PowerStar™ family of PA modules, which feature power control based on collector control. The RF3133 features quad-band performance in a small, 7mm x 10mm footprint.

The RF3133 is designed for use as a RF amplifier in single-band and multi-band GSM, DCS and PCS hand-held digital cellular equipment and other applications in the 880MHz to 915MHz, 1,710MHz to 1,785MHz and 1,850MHz to 1,910MHz bands. The RF3133 includes a fully integrated, silicon, CMOS power control loop that meets all spectrum and burst-timing requirements, with 50 ohm input and output terminals. The RF3133 also includes software tools that allow the engineer to instantly calculate ramp profiles, which saves months of development time.

The RF3133 is manufactured using GaAs HBT for power amplification with silicon CMOS used to integrate the power control circuitry. The product is packaged in leadless chip carrier and is available now.
