Radius Power Intros New RP400 Series Line Filters

New Products Nov 11, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Radius Power Inc. (Orange, CA) announced its new line of industrial and medical power line filter series, the RP400, which is a universal three-phase plus neutral EMC filter family with a universal input up to 480Vac, and rated up to 300A. The RP400 meets all international and domestic safety requirements in packages that conform to industry-standard footprints, and is suitable for light-to-heavy industrial equipment; machine manufacturers; medical equipment; factory automation; welding equipment; and other high-current, three-phase applications.

The RP400 excels in eliminating equipment and mains-borne electro-magnetic interferences. The high-performance Y configuration design incorporates filters on all three phases plus the neutral. The series is available in 11 models ranging from 15A to 300A/phase. The RP400 uses reduced levels of heavy potting compounds normally found in competitive models, which gives the RP400 equal or better thermal characteristics, comparable shock and vibration specifications, and a 30% to 50% weight savings. Performance is enhanced by eliminating the decrease in inductance caused by potting compound constriction on the ferrite core.

Meeting the demands for international compliance and certifications, each filter is C-US (CSA / UL) and EN (Europe) approved for input voltages up to 480Vac, meeting most ac input line requirements. The 100A model RP400-100 is priced at $350 in 10-piece quantities. All versions are available off-the-shelf. Custom design samples, power input assemblies, or filters with cable assemblies are available in two to four weeks.
