Programmable Gate Driver includes Monitoring and Fault Reporting
AgileSwitch has released a new IGBT Driver for EconoDual™ style modules that simultaneously increases functionality – and reduces cost. This is the most powerful, programmable gate drive board on the market. AgileDrivers are compatible with IGBTs from leading manufacturers including IXYS, Fuji, Infineon and PowerEx. Typical applications include solar/PV inverters, wind turbines, UPS, HEV/EV, and high speed trains/traction.
The AgileSwitch EDEM2-EconoDual Electrical driver provides monitoring and fault reporting information to enable better control and analysis of an IGBT-based power system. The EDEM2 provides up to 15 Amps of peak current at an operating frequency up to 50 kHz. The driver includes isolated HI and LO Side DC/DC converters and provides up to 8 fault conditions that can be reported separately or as a single fault via the 20-pin control header. All AgileSwitch drivers use automotive temperature grade components and allow for modifying settings of gate resistors and active clamping.
Software programmable features include: 2-level turn-off time and voltage level; Soft Shut Down (SSD) time and voltage level; Power supply under-voltage lockout (UVLO); Power supply over-voltage lockout (OVLO); Desaturation time and voltage level; Dead time; Fault lockout settings; and Automatic Reset settings.
Key switch driver features include: Isolated Temperature Monitoring, PWM; Isolated High Voltage Monitoring, PWM; Master-Slave capability for parallel operation; 2 X 2W output power; RoHs and UL compliant design; Interface for 3.3V, 5V or 15V logic levels; Gate drive voltage +15V/-10V; and Peak gate current +15A/-10A.
For applications using 2 or 3 EconoDualâ„¢ IGBTs in parallel, AgileSwitch offers Master-Slave, or Master-Slave-Slave, Kits. This configuration has the highest level of consistent timing between the IGBTs being driven, as well as a highly cost effective solution when compared to multiple IGBT drivers. The EDEM2-EconoDual Electrical Gate Driver is now in production.
