PREMO introduced its new inductive planars set, described as an innovative solution for the automotive market that meet specific sector standard AEC Q-200. The devices have been specifically designed for dc-dc converters and traction inverters in hybrid vehicles. They have been developed under a unique vacuum potting technique that allows a high isolation level up to 10kV.
Among the main features: transformers highline its high power management, between 2.5 and 7.2kW, in a 5cm height profile and an less 50cm² room area. Output chokes are designed to process similar powers with a low profile, less 4cm height and less 30cm² room area. Its geometry allows that the core connects to the main heat sink and it is said to guarantee an ideal thermal dissipation that increases the component’s performance.
The product is said to have a high efficiency for its hybrid design with laminated structure and litz coil: Rated losses are below 1% of total output power and effects such as skin and proximity have been considerably reduced. PREMO has developed a mechanical fastening system on it in order to improve final assembly structure in front of mechanical stress tests according the most stringent standards. Selected raw materials constitute a high temperature resistant system up to 180°C.
