Powerex 1,700V IGBTs Reduce On-State Losses 35%
Powerex has added a family of 1,700V devices utilizing Carrier Stored Trench Gate Bipolar Transistor (CSTBT) IGBT technology. The new A-Series family, which will replace the existing Powerex KA-Series in the range of 75-400A, offers compatible packaging with the 1,200V CSTBT family to make the addition of drives for 575V and 690V lines an easy transition.
Historically, the 1,700V devices have been desirable for this type of application, but, generally, the power loss was higher than desired. This new series reduces on-state losses by 35%, a level that is equal to third-generation 1,200V devices.
The new A-Series family is available with current ratings of 75, 100, 150, 200, 300 and 400 amperes at 1700V in dual or half-bridge packaging. These devices are targeted for 575 and 690V line-operated equipment and high voltage power supplies requiring operation with an 1,100V dc bus.
The devices are available from stock to 8 weeks for sampling with production quantities available within 12-16 weeks. Sample pricing in quantities of 10 ranges from $63 to $282, depending upon the rating selected.
