Powercube Intros PD Series DC/DC Converters

June 13, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

Powercube (Chatsworth, CA) announced that their PD Series of high- density dc/dc converters can now accommodate 12V inputs for use in the battery power systems architectures now becoming popular in portable equipment. The new 12V input devices are available in both full-brick 300W and half-brick 150W low-profile (0.40 inch) versions which can also operate from inputs of 24, 48, 150 and 300V. The design of the converters enables features such as over-voltage and over-current protection, thermal shutdown, and frequency synchronization to be included as standard in all PD Series models. The converters are available with output voltages of 3, 5, 12, 15, 24 and 28Vdc. Output voltages can be trimmed using an integral trim pin from +10 to –35 percent, and output ripple is typically less than 1 percent on all PD Series units. Prices for 12V-input PD Series converters with UL, CSA and VDE approval begin at $101 in quantities of 100. Samples are available now in all power and temperature ratings.
