Power-One Intros HNT42YEDB Half-Brick Converter

November 30, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Power-One Inc. (Camarillo, CA) introduced its new HNT42YEDB, a 100W dc/dc half-brick converter, which converts an 18Vdc to 36Vdc input into three 14A outputs that adjust from 0.75V to 5.15Vdc. The combination of flexibility, performance and full-isolation facilitates the use of one part for a variety of applications, and can also provide a space- and cost-saving, single-component alternative to distributed-power architectures.

The low-profile converter, less than 0.33in (8.5mm) high, is available in through-hole and surface-mountable packages. Other features include 1.5kVdc input-to-output isolation, sequencing of outputs at startup, remote on/off, and operation to 110°C. Internal protections include over-voltage, over-current, short-circuit, and over-temperature. Full-rated power operation is available with only 200 FM airflow.

Pricing is $98 each for 1,000-piece quantities, and $75 for OEM quantities. Evaluation units are available from stock. Production quantities are typically available in six to eight weeks. Additional HNT models are available for operation from a nominal 48Vdc input.
