Power-One Introduces Sixteenth-Brick dc-dc Converters

May 25, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

Power-One, Inc. (Nasdaq: PWER) introduced the SSQ Series of sixteenth-brick dc-dc converters. Operating from 36-75VDC inputs, three single-output models provide 2.5V @ 20A, 3.3V @ 15A, and 5.0V @ 10A. High efficiencies and advanced thermal management techniques enable delivery of up to 95% of full-rated power at 70°C with as little as 200 LFM of cooling.

The SSQ's have an industry-standard DOSA footprint and are RoHS compliant for all six restricted substances. Additional features include: 1500 VDC input-to-output isolation, Basic insulation, start-up into highly-capacitive loads, and low conducted and radiated EMI.

Interface features include: remote on/off, remote output voltage sensing, and industry-standard output trim. Protections include: overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent, and overtemperature. Regulatory approvals include: UL60950-1/CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 60950-1, TUV EN 60950-1, and IEC 60950-1. These cost-effective converters incorporate 0.40" (10.2mm) heights and industry-standard 1.3 x 0.9 inch (33 x 22.9mm) footprints.

Pricing is $25 each in quantities of 1000. Samples are usually available from stock. Production quantities are typically available in ten to twelve weeks. Part number designations for 2.5V, 3.3V, and 5V models are SSQ48T20025, SSQ48T15033, and the SSQ48T10050, respectively.
