Power-One Adds New QTS48T46096 Quarter-Brick

July 20, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Power-One Inc. (Andover, MA) has added the 46-amp QTS48T46096 quarter-brick bus converter to its product line. Efficiencies, over 97%, combined with advanced thermal-management techniques deliver enhanced elevated-temperature performance; 95% of full-rated power is available at 70°C with only 200LFM airflow. The 5:1 fixed-ratio design also increases overall power-system efficiencies by providing a 9.6V bus voltage (48V input) that reduces the input/output voltage deltas of point-of-load devices.

"Our latest QTS product is another excellent example of how Power-One has applied advanced technologies to solve real-world problems. Our customers have told us that high power at 55°C only solves half their problems; they also need high power in their 70°C environments. Our response is a product that delivers 420 watts at 70°C, the highest for any quarter-brick bus converter currently available," commented Steve Goldman, Power-One's Chairman and CEO.

The QTS48T46096 operates from a regulated 36 to 55V input to provide a proportional 7.2 to 11V output. Other features include: industry-standard 2.28 x 1.45 x 0.5 inch (57.9 x 36.8 x 12.7mm) footprint, 1500V input-to-output isolation, remote ON/OFF, no minimum-load operation, low conducted and radiated EMI, and an output-parallel option. Protection features include: output overcurrent, input undervoltage lockout, and input overvoltage shutdown. Regulatory agency approvals include: UL60950-1/CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 60950-1-03, TUV EN60950-1, and IEC60950-1.

Pricing is $40 each in quantities of 1000 pieces. Evaluation units are usually available from stock. Production quantities are typically available in six to eight weeks.
