Potentia Semiconductor Introduces Monolithic PFC/LLC Integrated Circuit for LCD Televisions
Potentia Semiconductor released what it claims is the industry’s first combined PFC-LLC integrated circuit controller for 32" to 65" LCD televisions. The PS-6110 is said to enable Flat Panel Display Television manufacturers to cost-effectively build high efficiency power supplies with what is claimed to be the industry’s smallest size.
The PS-6110 is an ac-dc power management integrated circuit for primary side, off-line power factor correction (PFC) and isolated dc-dc power conversion using LLC resonant power topologies. This power solution is said to be the first of its kind to fully integrate PFC controlled power with an LLC resonant controller. The PS-6110 allows for multiple PFC topologies and a wide range of operating frequencies to provide a complete solution for emerging power supply requirements.
"The PS-6110 encompasses our comprehensive approach to power management inside the LCD television," stated Tom Griffin, CEO Potentia Semiconductor. "The PS-6110 bundled with our ready reference designs provides a sophisticated power platform and quick time to market for our customers."
The PS-6110 features a locked in PFC to LLC frequency to minimize noise and electromagnetic interference. The product operates up to 100KHz and is a zero voltage switching device thus eliminating switching losses. The PS-6110 supports a broad range of LCD TV power applications; and is said to provide a more power efficient, lower cost, and simple to implement solution for powering LCD TVs. The PS-6110 is available in a 24-pin DIP.
