NetPower Debuts QRS/HRS Series DC/DC Converters

March 11, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

NetPower Technologies (Plano, TX) announced its new QRS Series of converters that are capable of delivering up to 40A of nominal current in a quarter-brick package at efficiencies of 91 percent (3.3Vout), and the HRS Series of converters, which are capable of delivering up to 70A of nominal current in a true half-brick package at efficiencies of 91 percent (3.3Vout). The converters are suitable for telecom, datacom, wireless and server applications.

The products are offered in the industry-standard quarter-brick and half-brick formats, 2.28in x 1.45in (57.9mm x 36.8mm) and 2.28in x 2.4in (57.9mm x 61mm), respectively, with a low profile height of 0.38in (9.5mm). The QRS Series incorporates a current-sharing feature in the small footprint of the quarter-brick. Both converters also feature control and protection features such as on/off control, over-current and short-circuit protection, output OVP, voltage trim, thermal shutdown, and current sharing. The QRS and HRS Series converters meet the basic insulation requirements of EN60950.

The QRS and HRS Series of converters will be available in output voltages ranging from 1.0V to 12.0Vout and are designed for input voltages of 36Vin to 75Vin (48Vin). The 1,000-piece price of the 40A QRS Series is $87, and the 70A HRS Series is priced at $117.
