Motorola Intros 56F802 MCU/DSP Hybrid Controller

Motorola Inc. (Schaumburg, IL) announced the new 56F802 MCU/DSP hybrid controller, which delivers 40MIPS at 80MHz and is designed for appliance, home security and control applications. It has integrated RAM and Flash Memory with 1KB each for program and data RAM, 2KB each for data and boot Flash memory, and 8KB of program Flash memory.

Housed in a 32-pin LQFP casing, the 56F802 operates from a 3.3V supply and supports up to four general purpose I/O for serial communication interface. It has an internal relaxation oscillator and provides onboard voltage regulation, as well as power supervision. The DSP is a five-channel, 12-bit DAC and features a six-channel 16-bit PWM capability. The device also features four programmable 16-bit timers and two 16-bit quad timers with two external pins.

The new 56F802 is priced under $3 in high volume quantities.
