MagnaChip Launches LTPS LCD Driver Chip
MagnaChip Semiconductor Ltd. announced the launch of its Low Temperature Poly Silicon (LTPS) LCD driver chip (PA7551) for mobile phones. This solution, which offers WQVGA (240RGBx432) resolution and 260,000 colors, supports Mobile Display Digital Interface (MDDI).
The PA7551 includes various video conversions, such as screen split and rotation, and is embedded with EEPROM, which allows module makers to improve and adjust image quality, providing greater manufacturing flexibility than existing products. By providing options to select between 320 and 432 driving lines, the PA7551 can support resolution from QVGA through WQVGA. Further, the solution offers low power consumption suitable for mobile devices, with partial display mode, refresh rate control, and an output buffer bias conversion function.
Davis Mok, Vice President of Mobile DDI Marketing, said, "The launch of our LTPS LCD driver chip solution is a critical milestone for MagnaChip, as demand for WQVGA products is increasing rapidly. The PA7551 is the optimal solution for mobile phones supporting digital terrestrial TV or digital satellite TV. Additionally, the PA7551 can support both QVGA and WQVGA resolutions. With mass production of this solution, MagnaChip expands its product portfolio in high end display driver chips and adds to its current LTPS and VGA solution availability."
