Linear Technology Debuts New LT1937 IC

August 28, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Linear Technology Corp. (Milpitas, CA) announced its new LT1937 white LED driver, which drives up to four white LEDs and operates at 84 percent efficiency while providing a shutdown current of <1µA, allowing the IC to be used in hand-held applications.

Packaged in an SC-70 or TSOT package, the LT1937 operates from 2.5V to 5.5V and offers a 1.2MHz switching frequency that allows the use of a 22µH inductor and 0.22µF output capacitor to complete a small footprint LED driver circuit. The feedback voltage of 95mV contributes to high efficiency and provides good brightness control even when partially dimmed to current levels of 6mA to 8mA.
