Lineage Power Announces Availability Of DOSA Compliant 5/12V MicroTLynx POL Converter

April 01, 2008 by Jeff Shepard

Lineage Power Corp. announced the availability of the 5/12Vin MicroTLynx converter. These open frame modules are designed per the latest DOSA standard footprint specification to provide higher power, higher density, and faster transient response in a wide variety of board mounted power applications.

The 5/12V MicroTLynx series converter has a wide input voltage range of 4.5 to 14V. These modules deliver up to 12A of output current at a precisely regulated output voltage from 0.69 to 5.5Vdc, programmable via an external resistor. The 5/12V MicroTLynx converter offers the same high efficiency as the Lynx series but with significantly improved thermal performance due to innovations in design and packaging. In addition, standard features include programmable output voltage, remote on/off, remote sense, Power Good, monotonic start up, EZ-SEQUENCE™, over current and over temperature protection.

The 5/12V MicroTLynx series converter also offers the new Tunable-Loop (patent pending) feature which is said to allow engineers to optimize the control loop to significantly improve transient response and reduce the amount of external filtering. This is said to enable designers to save valuable space and cost in their applications. The Tunable-Loop is also said to be easy to implement and to require only a minimal set of additional low cost components and no additional pins.

The 5/12V MicroTLynx converter, currently available in a small SMT package measuring only 0.8 in x 0.45 in x 0.295 in (20.3 x 11.4 x 7.49mm), features the LGA (Land-Grid-Array) interconnect method. Supporting an industrial operation temperature range of -40 to +85°C, the modules meet EU Directive 2002/95/EC RoHS initiatives as well as industry standard board cleaning processes.
