LDOs for Wearables with 350nA Current Consumption

November 02, 2016 by Jeff Shepard

In November 2016, SII Semiconductor Corporation will release the S-1317 Series of LDO voltage regulators that have low current consumption of 350nA. The S-1317 Series of LDO voltage regulators are designed for wearable, IoT and all devices needing the longest battery life possible. The S-1317 Series of LDO voltage regulators is capable of 100mA output current, ultra-low dropout voltage of 20mV, and offers high accuracy voltage regulation of ±1%.

The S-1317 Series is available as a standard product in 0.05 V output voltage increments, and comes with built-in overcurrent protection. The new regulators are available in both the HSNT-4 (1010) package (1.0 x 1.0 x 0.4 mm) and SOT-23-5 package (2.9 x 2.8 x 1.3 mm). The S-1317 is suited for the market demands of extended battery life and smaller end product size.

Features of the S-1317 series include: Output voltage of 1.0V to 3.5V, selectable in 0.05 V step; Input voltage range of 1.5V to 5.5V; Output voltage accuracy of ±1.0% (1.0V to 1.45V output units it is ±15mV) (at Ta = +25 degrees C); Dropout voltage of 20mV typ. (2.5 V output unit, at IOUT = 10mA) (at Ta = +25 degrees C); Current consumption during operation of 0.35μA typical (at Ta = +25 degrees C); Output current up to output 100mA (at Vin ≥ VOUT + 1.0V); A ceramic input capacitor can be used. (1.0μF or more); A ceramic output capacitor can be used. (1.0μF to 100μF); Built-in overcurrent protection circuit: Operating temperature range is -40 to +85 degrees C.
