Lambda Intros PX Series Shielded DC-DC Converters

December 12, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Lambda Electronics Inc. (San Diego, CA) introduced its new PX Series of single-output, dual-output and triple-output dc-dc converters that provide a broad range of inputs for a variety of industrial applications. Comprising the PXD, PXE and PXF Series, the converters all feature a six-sided, shielded metal case that reduces radiated noise to meet EN55022 Level A specifications.

The PX Series all have nominal dc inputs of 12 V, 24 V and 48 V. Some models offer a wide 4:1 input range of 9 V to 36 V, or 18 V to 75 V. Footprints for the devices are all industry-standard – the PXD Series models measure 2 in x 1 in x 0.4 in, the PXE Series measure 2 in x 1.6 in x 0.4 in, and the PXF Series measure 2 in x 2 in x 0.4 in. The converters are available in power levels of 10 W, 15 W and 20 W for the PXD Series; 20 W and 30 W for the PXE Series; and 40 W for the PXF Series. Each series offers output combinations of 3.3 V, 5 V, 12 V and 15 V.

The devices boast efficiencies of up to 90%, a mean time between failure in excess of 1.4 million hours, safety approval to UL60950 and EN60950 specifications, and carry the CE mark. Remote on/off and trim options are offered in all package sizes. The new PX family of dc-dc converters is available now, with prices starting at $52 in single-unit quantities.
