Jaro Touts “80,000 Hour Fan Life” With Dynamic FLUID Bearing

August 30, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

JARO Thermal Inc. announced the quiet new FDB series of "Fluid Dynamic Bearing" fans. To meet the rising demand for longer lasting, thermally-efficient products, JARO has combined its leading fan technology with Sony's FDB expertise, to produce what the company describes as 80,000 hours of fan-life.

The fan's unique design effectively eliminates surface contact between the shaft and bearing. The company claims that this creates a quieter, longer-lasting product. At the same time, the new fan utilizes a patented "vacuum impregnating" oil that eliminates air bubbles and oil leakage. This distinct structure creates pressure that actually supports shaft flotation.

The new technology is now available for a variety of cooling applications including TV, servers, power supplies, auto and medical devices. The lead time for the new FDB series is 8-10 weeks ARO. All of the company's products are RoHS compliant.
