IXYS Intros IXD_402/409 MOSFET/IGBT Drivers

July 11, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

IXYS Corp. (Santa Clara, CA) announced its dual 2A IXD_402 and single 9A IXD_409 MOSFET/IGBT drivers to their IC product family. Both are optimized to drive large-volume, mid-power-range IGBTs and MOSFETs. Many different package options are available, including industry-standard, eight-pin and 16-pin SOIC, five-pin TO-220, five-pin TO-263, and eight-pin DIP housings. The new drivers are targeted for applications in uninterruptible power systems, switch-mode power supplies, dc/dc converters, controllers for inverters, motor controls, Class D amplifiers, pulse transformer drivers, pulse generators and line drivers.

The drivers operate over a wide supply-voltage range from 4.5V to 25V, making them suitable for driving discrete IGBTs requiring a 15V gate bias, as well as increasing their reliability and making them immune to power supply transient voltages. Both devices can be driven by either TTL or CMOS input signals. A low propagation delay time and a low output impedance make the drivers optimal for driving fast-power MOSFETs and ultra-fast IGBTs.

Pricing for the IXD_402SI in the eight-pin SOIC package is $1.60 and $1.87 for the IXD_402PI in the eight-pin DIP package, both in 1,000-piece quantities. Pricing for the IXD_409SI in the eight-pin SOIC at the same quantity is $1.75 and $2.04 for the IXD_409PI in the eight-pin DIP package. Deliveries of sample quantities of both types are from stock and production quantities of both types will become available in 8 to 12 weeks.
