Industrial Ethernet Solution Kit Delivers Power-Optimized Performance
Renesas Electronics Europe today announced the availability of its "Connect it! – Ethernet R-IN Solution Kit". The new kit is an evaluation tool for industrial Ethernet networking. It includes all the hardware and software components system manufacturers need to set up industrial Ethernet slave networks and serves as a starting point for their own developments. The solution kit facilitates integration and helps system manufacturers get their products on to Europe's industrial Ethernet market faster. It is based on IAR's KickStart Kit for Renesas' R-IN32M3-EC industrial Ethernet communication chip.
The turbo real-time technology embedded in the R-IN32M3 series ensures real-time performance up to the application level, with outstanding performance per watt. This ensures that the highly integrated R-IN solution provides exceptional real-time response and Ethernet processing capabilities at best-in-class low power performance. Due to the pre-integration of major industrial Ethernet stacks by members of the Renesas partner network, system integrators will be able to get started with their industrial Ethernet designs instantly.
The comprehensive content of the Solution Kit includes: IAR EWARM Evaluation CD; I-jet Lite debugger; Free Real-Time Operating System; Free TCP/IP stack; BSP and sample projects; Documentation and tutorial video; and Access to evaluation versions of major industrial Ethernet stacks from the Renesas partner network.
Renesas’ R-IN32M3 series significantly improves industrial Ethernet network performance with optimized hardware accelerators, while reducing costs by supporting multiple protocols such as EtherCAT®, CC-Link® IE, EtherNet/IP®, PROFINET®, CANopen® and others from a single device. It can be used for real-time network communication in gateways, I/O controllers, PLCs/PACs, embedded controllers, industrial drives and multiple other networked applications. Its exceptional design flexibility allows system manufacturers to use one system design for several other networks and applications.
The availability of the new Connect it! – Ethernet R-IN kit completes the latest step in Renesas Electronics’ business strategy of providing a wide range of innovative solutions comprising both hardware and software. The company’s existing kits have seen considerable success and broad adoption by designers and engineers, for whom they provide cost savings and faster time to market. Renesas will be launching additional kits over the coming months to continue the implementation of this strategy. Many of the kits will be showcased on Renesas’ stand at Electronica in November (Hall A6, Stand 243). With the Renesas trade fair theme ‘Connect with Tomorrow’, the kit solutions will be a central focus at this year’s electronica in Munich.
