Holtek Semiconductor Unveils HT48RA3 Controller

October 07, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Holtek Semiconductor Inc. (Taiwan) announced its HT48RA3 controller for remote-control applications, which has a 24K-by-16 memory capacity.

The device has an internal programmable frequency divider or PFD output, the output frequency of which can be defined under software control, giving the device the flexibility to suit a large range of remote-control protocols. The controller contains both an internal eight-bit and 16-bit counter, an external interrupt, an eight-level stack, 224-byte RAM, and 23 I/O pins.

The program memory is sub-divided into three sections, each having a capacity of 8K-by-16. The device has a clock frequency ranging from 400kHz to 4MHz and an operating voltage range of 2.2V to 3.6V. This makes the controller suitable for dual-cell battery operation. An internal power-down mode cuts power consumption down to <1mA. The device is supplied in both 28-pin DIP and 28-pin SOP packaging.
