HiTek Intros Redesigned AP500 Power Supplies

July 21, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

HiTek Power Corp. (Santee, CA) announced it has redesigned its AP500 power supplies to incorporate a power-factor correction (PFC) module and other enhancements. Suitable for stand-alone bench use or for integrating into systems, the new AP500 power supplies feature a unique auto-ranging output characteristic curve that provides a wide range of voltage and current combinations within a constant 500W power envelope.

Infinitely adjustable voltage and current is made possible by three variants, which provide maximums of 20V or 80A current, 70V or 30A current, and 400V or 5A current. The AP500 can operate in constant-current or constant-voltage modes, with LED status indicators on the front panel showing which mode is in use. The auto-ranging input and output makes the AP500 suitable for applications such as automatic test equipment because fewer power supply units are needed to meet the wide range of voltage and current requirements. The output can be controlled manually, via general-purpose interface bus, or by simple remote voltage or resistance programming.

The AP500 power supplies are priced starting at $2,850 and come with a one-year warranty. Availability is stock to eight weeks.
