High-Density 6-W SIP8 DC-DC Supports Single and Dual Outputs
Aimtec, Inc. announces a new AM6G-Z series, a high power density 6 Watt SIP8 packaged dc-dc converter supporting single and dual outputs. These new converters offer on/off control, no minimum loading, and with a wide 2:1 input range (4.5-9, 9-18, 18-36, 36-75Vdc), plus continuous short circuit protection. Input-to-output isolation options of 1500Vdc or 3500Vdc are available. Standard output voltages for single-output units include, 3.3-, 5-, 9-, 12-, 15-, and 24-Vdc. Dual-output models deliver a choice of +/- 5-Vdc, +/- 12-Vdc or +/- 15-Vdc. Noise and ripple are 75 mV (typical) with a 20MHz bandwidth.
Conversion efficiencies range from 77% for single-5-Vdc-output units to 86% for single-15-Vdc-output units. These dc-dc converters have a fixed switching frequency of 100kHz. They are rated for operation from -40 to +85 degrees C. Full output power is available to 65 degrees C (except for 5-Vdc and +/- 5-Vdc units which deliver full power to 55 degrees C). Output power derates linearly down to 35% at the maximum operating temperature of 85 degrees C. The maximum case temperature is 105 degrees C. The calculated MTBF is 770khrs.
Measuring 0.85 x 0.44 x 0.36 inches (21.85 x 11.10 x 9.2 mm), Aimtec’s AM6G-Z series is considered one of the smallest dc-dc converters on the market compared to the current availability of converters in its power range.
