Glary Power Intros New 100A Quarter-Brick Converter

New Products Oct 24, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Glary Power Technology (Taiwan) introduced its new 100A, quarter-brick, dc/dc module with a high conversion efficiency of 87 percent at 1.8V/100A, which integrates two channels of patented "buck reset" forward converters with an efficient SR stage in symmetrically geometry that doubles the current delivered and reduces the total power loss. The buck reset technology resets the energy to the output directly, resulting in layout space savings, and an increase in the volume and capability of the power circuitry.

The new module features a rated current across the input-voltage range of 36V to 75V, a –40 to +110 degrees C base temperature range, a separated powertrain mounted on a metal core PCB that eliminates hot spots, a low profile of 0.35in (9.0mm), over-voltage protection, over-temperature protection, input under-voltage lockout protection, an output-voltage trim facility that enables the output to be adjusted between 90 percent and 110 percent of nominal, and a 2.0kVdc isolation rating between primary to secondary that is designed to meet international safety standards, including EN60950 and CSA/UL60950.

The new device is priced at $100 for 1,000 units, and is available now.
